The Procter & Gamble Co. will link P&G brandSAVER coupon redemptions this spring to company-led programs that promote healthy children around the world.
The Cincinnati-based consumer products giant announced in a press release on Thursday that it hopes to raise $1 million between March and April by tying its corporate donations to coupon redemption. The charitable programs - Pampers Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus Global Campaign, PUR Children's Safe Drinking Water Program and Always and Tampax Protecting Futures Program - will benefit for every coupon redeemed from the March 1-April 5 issues of P&G's monthly brandSAVER coupon book. The company will make a donation toward the cost of water, vaccine administrations and feminine protection and puberty education in developing countries. More than 10 million children in developing countries die before the age of five from health issues that will be targeted by the initiative, P&G said. P&G's Pampers has partnered for two years with UNICEF to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus and has paid for more than 50 million doses of vaccine. Tetanus is a preventable disease that has kills 140,000 infants and 30,000 mothers in developing countries annually, the company said in the release. |
