Is it legal to trade a formula check when it has your name on it?

I donated checks I couldn't use with my name on it
. it was the wrong brand. I got a hold of the chairman of the board for our local food bank and gave her about 20 checks I had been stickpiling. and She was able to take them to our local grocer and purchase the $5.64 can of premade formula for the local baby foodbank. this something really important. as mom's run out of formula before the end of the month and sometimes need a little more to get through the month. the local grocer knew who she was and that she was buying for the local food bank and didn't care that they were not in her name. Something that you could check into. it is better then throwing them away, when there are mothers out there that can use some extra formula.

i redeemed them and gave them to my neighbor!!
you can do the same and give them to the food bank, great idea!!
or you can go with the person, if you feel bad about giving them to someone else. Post them on freecycle, you go with the person and maybe you can split the bill or something????

Yea, the stores dont care what the name is, whether it matches you or not.

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback for my question. This is what I did with it: I asked the church who might be using the formula and than gifted her with the forumla on Saturday morning. She was so surprised. I also had some great Pampers Q's so I got her some swaddlers, too. I put together some free samples I've received for related items. They are having harder times than us, so it was nice to do that for them.

My husband was proud of me. He said, Donna what else can do pull out of your magic box of coupons. I grinned and said 2 free KFC meal for us. That was Saturday noon. We ended up being given 2 rain checks to mail in. So that wasn't so good for the moment.

We ended up having lunch at home. But in the mail we got samples, mailer coupons and 4 trades. I let hubby open them as I made lunch. He was like a kid in a candy shop.
