Leapster 2 vs Nintendo DS
I am trying to figure out which one would be better for a 4 1/2 yr old.
Leapster 2 or Nintendo DS. I know Leapster is more educational than DS. My daughter currently has a Clickstart & loves playing with the games & collecting stars in Dora Game. She had played the Wii & likes the Diego game. So I am kind of leaning towards a DS. But I don't want it to be too hard for her to play, that she doesn't use it. Any thoughts? |

I know nothing about the Leapster and was kinda in the same boat as you regarding which one should I get for my 3 1/2 year old. Is it worth to spend the money on one that eventually she will out grow in a few years or get one that she can grow into? Plus her older sister has one (that's mainly why she wants one! lol) When my oldest gets tired of her games she can pass them on to my youngest. So I've decided to get a Nintendo DS even though I think she's kinda young to have one.....but it just makes sense in the long run. I did find some games on Amazon that is geared for the preschool age. There isn't many out there unfortunately.

My daughter (will be 5 at the end of the month) got the leapster for Easter. She played it for a little while and does every now and then. Both her brothers have a DS and she is always pesting them to play theirs. My oldest is getting a DSi for xmas and I am giving her his DS. She really like to play the Nintendo Dogs and also Mario party, it has memory and different games like that on it with Mario and Luigi. I would go with the DS.

I agree with what has been said. The Leapster they'll play for MAYBE a year until they get tired of it. But with the DS they can have it for many years. (Albeit they don't come out with something else besides the DSi in the next couple of years.)
And with the DS you can easily change out the games via ebay or game swap as they get older. |

Yeah, they are used. Last year they were running a special at our local game stop, you got a used DS Lite and 2 used games for $99.00. Also, I am checking out DSI's on Ebay and seen some DS Lites going at really good prices.

I never realized that these systems are so much money! They sure are expensive.
