Kmart had red, green and navy sweater vests. I purchased 2 for my son the day after Thanksgiving.

I would recommend trying Children's Place (I see someone else provided a link to their site), but would also recommend trying Old Navy.
I have gotten nice sweater vests for the holidays and shirts to go under them from both places in the past. |

I thought I had seen some at Wal-Mart because I was thinking of buying one for my son. I can't remember why I didn't though? They also had button up shirts. I'm sure Gap has some.

I had a difficult time finding one I liked this year as well. My daughter is wearing red and the vest I got my son is grey with white and red trim (from The Children's Place). I wasn't too thrilled about grey at first, but the outfits complement each other really well, so I'm pleased. Good luck!
