Question on CVS and Walgreens bucks
Hi- I'm still learning the ropes on how to use all the great coupon deals out there and it seems like a lot of people go to CVS or Walgreens to use their rewards bucks. On the rewards bucks for either, is it money that is applied towards your next transaction? I'm not sure how this really works.
Sometimes those stores seem more expensive (like on the Kelloggs specials at CVS this week) but you get money back. Are the rewards really worth it? |

yea, so cvs & walgreens is more expensive than say walmart...but if you watch the ads, match coupons, and do the rebate programs you can get a steal!!!
like this week at cvs they have buy $20 of kraft products, get $20 ecb. so you go in, and you put the $20 out (or less if you have coupons, i had a $4 off coupon +other ecbs...) anyways then you get $20 back to spend in the store later for other goods...so basically the stuff is free! then you can use your ecb (which are like cash in cvs) to buy other items that give ecbs. like today when i went i used ecb's from last week towards my total, so that i only had to pay $9 for my kraft products (4 boxes of honey bunches of oats, 2 boxes of easy mac, wheat thins, ritz crakers, 2 packs of oreos). then i got $20 back. and so next week i will use that $20 on items that give ecbs, and keep recycling the same money, does that make sense??? then walgreens has there easy saver catalog, so once a month i go buy the stuff...the first time you put money up, then they refund you all the items plus 10% if you choose a gift card instead of a check. then the next month you buy the free items with the gift card, and keep recycling that money....so months there may be more items, so you may have to pitch in a few dollars, but other months you won't spend all of it either... so in closing i wouldn't go to these stores as a regular to stock my pantry shelves or anything, BUT they are great for rebates and getting stuff free to nearly free...you just have to put the initial money into it. hope that helps! |
