Rite Aid-coupon vent
I went to Rite Aid (previously Eckerd) a few weeks ago & was buying things on their rebate list that I also had coupons for. Well, one of those items was a post-it flag highlighter pen that was on sale for $1.99 and had a full rebate offer. Well, I had a $2 coupon good on any Post-it item, but they wouldn't take it. I asked the girl at the register if she could adjust the coupon price to $1.99 & she said that they aren't allowed to accept a coupon if it won't scan. It was a manuf coupon too, not a printed one, which I couldn't understand why the computer wouldn't accept it, except only that I would essentially be making money (because I would get the rebate too).
Anyone else had any issues similar to this? How did you handle it, or did you just let it go? I just let it go since I would be getting the item for free after the rebate anyways.... |

I just went today to Rite Aid and got a deodorant that is on sale for .99. I had a $1 coupon and she actually gave me a penny back. I always use coupons on the free after rebate deals. I've never head a problem!! I would call corporate and let them know!!

Here's the response:
I have forwarded your comments to the Regional and Store Management so they are aware of this. A member of management will be contacting you shortly. I do apologize, and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. |

YEAH!!!! Someone from the store called me back today & left a message apologizing, stating that even if I didn't still have the coupon, to come in & they would give me the $2. I am most definately going to do so....It does indeed pay [literally ;-)]to complain sometimes.

That happened to me the other day. The coupon was ripped a bit and a corner of the bar code was missing so it wouldn't scan. He said since it wouldn't scan I can't use it. I told him to key it in because it's not expired, just a little ripped. I told him if he didn't he would have to void my whole sale. Just a couple other things, but he probably didn't want the hassle of calling a mgr, most likely to find out that he could key in the coupon. I used the coupon. I think he was new. The newer the employee, the strictrer.

Not sure how new the person was, because I don't generally go in that store often, but she was young, so that perhaps might have played a role as well....

in her defense .. i worked in rite aid for 3 years and they always used to tell us that we couldnt accept a coupon for more. because it doesnt ring right and at the end of the day the register comes up short.. so she was prolly listening to the managers

She told me she could call the manager over there, but they would tell me the same thing. Like I said, I let it go then because I was going to get the item FAR anyways, but still....I'm glad I wrote to them, even though it's not something I do on a regular basis.
