Flat Rate Priority Boxes

So, for a few years now I have tried to use the flat rate boxes when shipping anything that I sell. Today I went to list a group of books and was stumped when I got to the shipping part.

I entered that it was Flat Rate Priority Box. I then entered the flat rate amount and it said that I had exceded tha $4 shipping limit. After pleying around with it for awhile I went to Live Help. They were NO help.

One guy disconnected after 2 minutes. The next guy sugested that I try a different method of shipping. He also suggested that if I was really set on using the flate rate that I could enter the $4 for shipping and then after the auction was done I could inform the winner that there would be an aditional shipping charge. I told him that I didn't think that it would be very good business to do that.

I went round and round trying to get an answer on how to do this and never did receive one. Anybody out there know what I need to do now to use these boxes? Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing since it's books they want you to use media rate to save people on shipping.

Yeah there is a shipping cap on that category, that's what is going on. For books/videos/video games/cds/dvds there is a shipping cap of $4. I'm not sure how you can get around that since it's a "group" of books and obviously will cost more than $4 to ship. Maybe you could put in the listing that "due to eBay shipping cap you can only enter $4 in the shipping charge box, but the actual shipping on this item(s) will be _____" that way you have it there in the listing so no one is misled and when they sell you can revise the invoice and send it to the buyer. Hope that helps. Not sure what else you could do.
