TAG books $.80/Leapster Games $3.80 or FREE

Yes, thanks so much for posting this! I found a few TAG books for $4.80 each (minus the $4coupon) and got my $5 Catalina and used it to buy Leapfrog Sing-Along Read-along which was on clearance $12 -20%, so I got it for $4.89!! I'm super happy right now, that will make a perfect Christmas gift for my daughter!!
And after doing the second transaction I have another $5 catalina. Maybe I'll go back later, I'd love to get more books for the TAG but I'm not sure if I want to buy the Spongebob for my daughter I'd love to get the Ariel Tag book but it was regular price ~$14. I'm hoping it will go on sale before the coupon expires!!

You could use your $4 Tag book manufacturer's coupon and the $5 catalina to get the Ariel book for $5, even if it doesn't go on sale before the coupon expires at the end of the month.

question...........i've never used the TAG book with my son. He only has the Leapster. The TAG book that is so cheap.........do you use that by itself or do you put that into the reading system?? I need to know what coupons to print and bring with me..........thanks )

I've bought both the Leapster and Tag system but haven't used either yet since I'm saving them for Christmas. The Tag books look like regular books (actually if you got the free Tag Junior book posted on here you can use that with the Tag Reader too). You need the Tag Reader (which looks like a pen) to run it over the words in the book to have it read the book to the child. It's unlike the leapster in that there are no cartridges. You just have to program the book into the reader. The older style Tag readers which 'held' 5 books were being (and still may at some stores) being clearanced out at Target for $2.48 with the $10 online coupon. The new readers are about $50 and 'hold' 10 books. This newer model is on sale at Target this week (until today) for $40 and with the $10 coupon you can get it for $30. The older 5 book style is on sale at ToysRUs until 9/19 for $20 (after coupon), if you can't find it at Target.

I picked up the books even before I looked into the reader figuring if I couldn't find a good deal on the reader I could just use them as regular books.

I'd take some Tag book and Leapster game coupons with you to the store because you don't know what you'll find till you get there.

One more thing, from what I understand it does more than just read the books to the kids. If they run the pen over the characters in the book it tells them what the characters are thinking. It can ask the child to point to the word that starts with "w" or to point to the tall, red character, stuff like that.

are you all getting the $5 register coupons with each purchase? i stopped at a different kmart today but it did not print off the coupon when i purchase the TAG book for $0.80.
also, BREC, when you say that the older TAG reader only holds 5 books...does that mean only 5 at a time-like you could install different ones every once in awhile?

This was my first thought as well but then I read the catalina more carefully and it says it cannot be combined with any other coupon. Should I still try or what?
