Target Return Policy

(Borrowed from another site)

Target's Return Policy - From Target team member training

* Items with receipts can be returned up to 90 from the purchase date, after the 90 days no item no matter what it is regardless of whether or not you have the receipt can be returned. No one in the store can do anything about this because the computer system does not offer a way to override this.

* If you do not have your receipt we can perform a "Receipt Lookup" if you made the purchase with a credit card, debit card, or check. If you paid with cash there is no way to look up the receipt. All we would need is the card that you paid with or a blank check.

* If you do not have your receipt and the item you are returning is under $20 we can do a "Driver's license return". However only 2 of these returns can be done with each driver's license a year(a year being 365 days not January-December). You can only get a target gift card with this kind of return.

* If you paid with cash you can only get cash back or a Target gift card(aka store credit), if you paid with a credit card you can have it put back on the credit card or you can get a Target gift card. If you paid with a debit card it can be put back on the debit card, get cash back, or get a Target credit card. (I haven't done any returns paid with by a check yet so I'm not sure what you get back with those)

* Opened electronics(movies, games, cds, etc.] can only be returned for the same product(meaning you have to get the same exact item no matter what). This is NOT ONLY a store policy but it is subject to copyright laws. No matter how much you argue we cannot exchange it for anything else or we would be breaking the law. End of discussion.

* If the item you are returning doesn't have the bar code (or the DCPI numbers) anywhere on it, AND you don't have the receipt, AND we no longer have that exact same item(even if its the same shirt but with a different design on it, they would still be listed differently in the computer) we cannot take it back because there is no way for us to put it back into the computer system.

Well, okay but if I didn't have the receipt and didn't have them do a receipt lookup, then how would they know I've had the item longer than 90 days...unless it was a seasonal item or something like that.

I just found this funny is all.

ok target has screwed me on this.. they have a receipt look up for the past 90 days of stuff you bought on that card.....

after the 90 days they wont return merchandise...

i had a water cooler, it was like 94 days, target wouldnt return it...emailed corporate and their excuse was to contact the vendor, not them. they cant do anything...

so from now on i dont buy anything big from there...

Yeah, they are getting really tough on returns. Today I had to wait in line behind a pregnant couple who were trying to return stuff on their registry that they had gotten duplicates of, but had no receipts for. It wasn't pretty. They had a bunch of name brand stuff so I ended up whispering to them to go to babies r us to return their stuff becuase they aren't so rigid on returns over there. Not that I condone screwing a business out of $ but it was all resalable merchandise that they just wanted to trade out for other items and even though they had a registry and it didn't update properly (which has happened to me with both my wedding and baby registries!) Target still was all too ready to leave them hanging in the lurch. Stupid.

I also told them to edit their registry to add everything under the sun from high ticket items to diapers and wipes just before their due date so they could get all that at 15% off when Target sends them the coupon to "complete their registry". Hmmm, I wonder if they put a tent on the baby registry they could get 15% off that too???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Question: If i buy something, using a coupon, if i return it do i get the discounted price, or the original price?

And if they give the discounted price back, isnt the store making a bigger profit? They keep the coupon cash and the product, if i return it?

My first son I registered at Target and bought everything I need after the shower and then got there 15% off later. I was so mad I didn't wait. I just had a baby shower this past Septmeber for my little girl and registered at Target again, didn't want to because I hate their return policy and the issues I had before, and held off on buying the last few things I needed so I could use the coupon. Never came. So I don't know if they are doing this anymore or I just got jipped!

I believe thier policy is to deduct the coupon from your return.
