help!
Hi there,
Would love to have someone to walk me through (be a mentor) how to really start saving some money. I have unsuccessfully tried so many ways to stay organized and save money at least for groceries. I really need to be able to save money- not just buy things b/c I have coupons, etc... and call that saving money. Do you know what I mean? I am very excited to get started. Thanks, Stacey |

Well I would consider myself pretty organized. I am a WAHM and I would say that I spend at least 5 hours a week getting organized. I would consider myself a little obsessed and I realize that not too many people have the time that I have.
Since the coupons come on Sundays I usually work on things on Sunday nights (haven't been doing it lately, but will when school starts back up). I usually sort my coupons (once cut) into piles. Ones that are expired, ones I'm keeping and ones I'm trading. I have a pouch in the back of my coupon binder for the ones that I'm keeping (even though they aren't always filed in my binder). This is also the time I print my printable coupons and cut them. Once my coupons are under control, I usually head right to the sales ads for the week with my sharpie. I sit down and see what I'll need from each store. After that I usually head over to the computer and list my "haves" to VIckys and start trading. I can tell you that we NEVER eat out without a coupon, I never buy ANYTHING full price, I always shop clearance and store for later. I shop at thrift stores on a regular basis and I try to get extra sets of coupons from my mom and a couple of other friends. My kids have clothes for the next couple of years stored away in the attic. If I see something that my oldest son can wear in 2 years and it's an awesome price, I'll buy it, bring it home and store it in the appropriate size bin in the attic. I buy the Kids Stuff Coupon books that are sold through my son's school and I buy the Entertainment books for my area. These are a huge investment but worth it for my family. If I can be someone's mentor, please let me know. Perhaps I can answer some questions via email. |
