ISO big/little sister
I am not new but i have fell off the bandwagon getting good deals. I use to spend 100.00 and get enough things for 2-3 weeks. Now I am spending 150.00 a WEEK to feed 1 adult and 4 kids. I would like to get my grocery bill UNDER 80.00 a week. I really need help. I have no idea how i fell off so far but I can't find a good deal now to save my life. Please help! I am located in Nc if that helps.

I don't think it's just you...I think it's the times. I have been spending more also. And have a harder time finding deals.

Dilute juice 50:50 with water. Kids don't need more than 8 oz/day Kids under 5 only need 4 milk servings/day 1/2 cup milk or yogurt is a serving. 1/2 oz. cheese is a serving. Store brands if you don't have coupons for name brands. No sodas or empty calorie foods. Just a few starters!!

I have cut out meat in alot of our meals to save money . We eat lots of beans, veggies, rice, fruit,(sometimes chicken and hamburger). We eat more chicken breast than anything. I wish we did have a target but we don't the only shopping place I have is walmart, food lion, family dollar and dollar general. for cereal I usually buy the super size off brand bags because it feeds alot. I make homemade pancakes, hot pockets, almost anything I can. We do not buy chips, cookies, etc and if we do its limited. But somehow I am still spending a fortune? lol. thanks everyone for the tips Kepe them coming!

Just an idea but...look over your receipt/s after you get home from shopping....circle all the things you got that weren't need items...add them up and see how much extra you spent and didn't need too.
Also plan your meals for the week around the store ads. I do this and if I don't have chicken in the freezer and its not on sale...we don't have chicken that week. Also I always look in the meat department to see if any meat has been marked down before I buy any thats on sale....sometimes the marked down meat is cheaper then the meats that are on sale for that week. |

i noticed my meat cycles, we may eat hamburger meat meals more for 1-2 weeks, then onto chicken and so on, but it wworks! i only buy ground meat at 1.99 or less alb, and then i buy 5-10 lbs, split it up and freeze, that way i haven't paid an arm and a leg, and always have it. and check out walmart frozen chicken breasts, they are only about $7, much cheaper than other chain grocery stores! good luck to you, pm me with anything, anytime!
